Abstract submission

We are proposing an excellent scientific programme addressing the basic translational and clinical aspects of research into brain and spinal cord injuries. The programme will consist of a combination of plenaries, breakouts, posters and other sessions. Themes will cover mild, moderate and severe brain injury with several specific topics relating to novel scientific therapies, clinical management, brain physics, brain chemistry, imaging and brain injury related to sports.

Deadline for submission of papers: Tuesday 2 April Extended to Friday 12 April 2024   

Abstract submission will open: Thursday 7 December 2023

Preparing your abstract for submission

Abstract Format 

  • Abstract Title - The title should clearly identify the contents of the abstract. Please enter your abstract title in sentence case, i.e. capitalise only the first letter of the title and then any proper names or acronyms. 
  • Abstract Text - Your abstract should be divided into: Introduction, Methodology, Results and Conclusions. This is important for the review process. A maximum of 300 words is permitted. 
  • Language - Authors should ensure that the abstract is written in acceptable, standard English. Authors whose native language is not English are urged to have an English-speaking colleague review the abstract before sending it. 


Abstract Submission Is Now Closed

Assessment process

  • All submitted contributions will be peer-reviewed by an expert panel. 
  • Different oral sessions will be arranged based on the scientific quality of the contributions and the number of abstracts submitted on each topic. 
  • Abstracts not selected for oral presentation may be offered an ePoster and would then be placed in a suitable poster session. 
  • Authors will be notified of the review outcome by email by 22 April 2024 15 May 2024
  • All presenting authors must register and pay to attend the Conference by 8 July 2024. Acceptance of abstracts for inclusion in the programme is dependent upon receipt of registration. Authors not registered by this date will have their abstract withdrawn from the programme.


Awards

The International Neurotrauma Symposium will award prizes for the best oral and ePoster presentations. 

The three best presentations from the respective category will be awarded:

  • £800 for the EBIC Sir Graham Teasdale Award to the best Post Doc oral presentation (i.e. not in an established faculty post)
  • £400 for the best poster presentation by a Post Doc
  • £400 for the best poster presentation by a PhD student

The winners will be announced during the Farewell session/ceremony where they will receive their certificate and prize money.
