TRAVELLING TO THE CONFERENCE

TRAVELLING WHILE AT THE CONFERENCE
Glasgow is a very walkable city! Please consider walking to and from your hotel to the conference / conference dinner.
Conference venue:
Average walking time from Glasgow city centre (Buchanan Street) to the university: 42 minutes
Glasgow also has excellent public transport, having its own underground line (the SPT) and great bus services offering easy and fast journeys to the university.
From Buchanan Bus Station to the University:
Option 1: Subway
From Buchanan Bus Station, walk to Buchanan Street Subway Station (about 5 minutes).
Take the subway (Inner Circle) to Kelvinbridge Subway Station. The subway runs every 5 minutes, and the journey takes about 7 minutes.
From Kelvinbridge Station, the St. Andrews Building is a short 5-minute walk through the Kelvin Walkway.
Option 2: Bus
You can also catch a bus from near Buchanan Bus Station to the University. Look for services such as the 4/4A (alight at Eldon Street), which will drop you close to the St. Andrews Building or the 6 (alight at Kelvinbrigde opposite Landsdowne Crescent).
Walking to the conference dinner:
The conference dinner will take place at The Corinthian Club.
This is walkable from the conference venue (45 minute walk). Why not take the scenic route?
Getting from the conference venue to the dinner
Starting Point:
St. Andrews Building, University of Glasgow
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (Approx. 5-10 mins from the start):
Start your journey by heading south on Eldon Street towards Gibson Street.
As you walk down, take a slight right onto Woodlands Road and then left onto Sauchiehall Street.
Soon, you'll come across the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, a stunning building and one of Glasgow's most famous attractions. It's worth a visit if you have time.
Glasgow School of Art (Approx. 15 mins from Kelvingrove):
Continue on Sauchiehall Street towards the city centre.
On your way, you'll pass the Glasgow School of Art, an architectural marvel designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Theatre Royal (Approx. 10 mins from Glasgow School of Art):
Keep walking along Sauchiehall Street until you reach Hope Street.
Turn right onto Hope Street, and shortly you'll see the Theatre Royal, home to Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet.
Buchanan Street (Approx. 5 mins from Theatre Royal):
From the Theatre Royal, head south on Hope Street.
You will soon arrive at Buchanan Street, one of Glasgow’s principal shopping thoroughfares bustling with life and energy.
George Square (Approx. 5 mins from Buchanan Street):
Turn left onto Bath Street and then take the first right onto Renfield Street.
A short walk will bring you to George Square, a central hub of the city adorned with important statues and monuments.
Glasgow City Chambers (Overlooking George Square):
Take a moment to admire the Glasgow City Chambers on the eastern side of George Square, known for its magnificent Victorian architecture.
Final Stretch to the Corinthian Club (Approx. 5 mins from George Square):
Continue south on South Frederick Street from George Square.
Turn left onto Ingram Street.
The Corinthian Club, housed in a breathtakingly grand Victorian building, is just a short walk away.
Arrival: The Corinthian Club
This walk is approximately 2.5 miles (4 km) and takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on your pace and stops along the way. Enjoy the blend of Glasgow's rich history and vibrant contemporary culture as you stroll through the city
MERCHANDISE
In order to increase the sustainability of the conference, we will no longer be distributing conference bags. Instead, we will make available re-useable coffee cups, waterbottles and notebooks for those who want them. You can pick these up at registration. We encourage you to bring your own reuseable coffee cup and water bottle!
We will no longer be offering a printed programme. Instead, you can access all the information using our conference app.
