Welcome Civic Reception

Glasgow City Chambers

Located in George Square, the City Chambers has functioned as the headquarters of Glasgow City Council since 1996, and of preceding forms of municipal government in the city since 1889. The building is in the Beaux arts style, an interpretation of Renaissance Classicism incorporating Italianate styles with a vast range of ornate decoration, used to express the wealth and industrial export-led economic prosperity.

The Welcome Reception will take place from 6pm until 7.30pm with drinks and canapes. After this you are free to explore the excellent range of restaurants in the Merchant City.

If you are walking from St Andrew's Building it is a 1.5 mile, 35 minute walk. Or you can take the underground to Buchanan Street and it is a two minute walk to George Square.
