Global Collaboration: The Vision of the Global Information Consortium (GIC)
11:05 AM - 12:25 PMAbstract
In a world increasingly shaped by data and digital transformation, the need for a unified voice in records and information management (RIM) has never been more urgent. This panel introduces the Global Information Consortium (GIC), a newly formed collective of international professional associations dedicated to advancing global standards, collaboration, and innovation across the information management landscape.
Join key representatives from founding GIC organisations as they unpack the purpose, priorities, and potential of this global alliance. The discussion will explore how the GIC seeks to:
• Champion consistent and recognised global standards in records and information governance
• Amplify the collective voice of the profession to influence international policy and practice
• Share resources, research, and educational initiatives across borders
• Empower practitioners in developing and emerging markets
• Tackle global challenges such as AI, digital preservation, and data ethics through shared expertise
Attendees will gain insight into how the GIC plans to serve as a collaborative engine for change, how it complements national efforts, and how professionals and associations can engage with and benefit from its growing network.
