Adapting skills in a changing workplace

12:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Abstract

We are living through a time of unprecedented change. The technological advancements in areas such as Artificial Intelligence are deeply impacting the world of work.

While some might see this as a threat, We believe that it presents many more opportunities to our sector. Our skills are not only valuable in this changing world, but more importantly transferable. The purpose of this interactive workshop is to encourage delegates to explore their information, records and archival management skills, understand how transferable they really are, and identify what actions (if any) they need to take to adapt their skills for the changing world of work.

During the workshop we will discuss the following:
• Understand what we mean by transferable skills and why they matter?
• Explore the skills we think are likely to be needed now and in the future?
• Explore what actions we can take to maintain and promote our skills to employers and prospective employers
• Develop a personal action plan

The workshop format will consist of a mix of small group working and facilitated group discussions, designed to encourage a wide-ranging exploration of our skills and the proactive steps we can all take to engage with our organisations to recognise them.

The tone and aim of this interactive workshop is to enthuse delegates and make them realise how valuable and transferable many of our skills really are and encourage them to look forward to the future, confident that they have a place in it.
